This series was originally billed as an anthology series so many assumed that we the audience would get a second season. However, Netflix officially canceled the film on April 19, 2018.

Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix said that, “We love working with Veena Sud, Regina King and the Seven Seconds cast and crew. Together with them we created a crime drama that was engaging, timely and relevant. Season one is a complete, stand-alone story that we’re proud to bring to Netflix for years to come.

Seven Seconds was highly praised with a current audience score on Rotten Tomatoes of 84% and a critics score of 78%. This is a very good review. But Netflix may have canceled the series for reasons based on low viewership, regardless of what Holland says.

Netflix has been known to be merciless where other series that also only get low viewership will definitely not be renewed with new seasons.

At least we can be glad that the show had a convincing ending and didn’t just end with the story hanging.

Seven Seconds itself stars Regina King, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Russell Hornsby, Beau Knapp, Michael Mosley, David Lyons, Raul Castillo, Zackary Momoh, Nadia Alexander, Coley Speaks, Patrick Murney, and Michelle Veintimilla.

For the rest, there is no need to discuss anything anymore if this series has been discontinued or updated to the next season. So, for those of you who are still waiting, just look for other similar series on Netflix.
